Cancer treatment center in Owasso raided by FDA

"They lie about what I do so they could convince a judge to issue the (search) warrant," Carpenter said.

Computers, lasers, patient records, $7,800, financial information and other items were seized during the July 11 raid.

According to an affidavit seeking the search warrant, the company combined saline solution and Black Walnut Green-Hull Extract to form a mixture that was applied topically or injected into a cancerous tumor. Then a laser was used to heat the area to kill the cells in a process the center calls Light Induced Enhanced Selective Hyperthermia, or L.I.E.S.H. therapy, said the document signed by U.S. Food and Drug Administration special agent Jeremy Bain.

Black Walnut Green-Hull Extract is marketed by herbal stores as a treatment for skin ailments, including ringworm, jock itch and athlete's foot.

"Carpenter is preying on patients and giving false hope to those who are seeking treatment options for their disease," said the affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Tulsa.

The FDA issued a statement saying it does not comment on pending, current or ongoing investigations. The U.S. attorney's office in Tulsa did not return phone calls seeking comment.

Carpenter, who said she is a physicist, denied the mixture was a drug, saying it was saline solution and food coloring.

"Everybody is ignoring the positive side. People have been free of cancer because of this treatment," Carpenter said. "What I do with the laser is hyperthermia, but only in the tumor. The tumor absorbs the light and dies."
