Chinese B Vitamin Producer Overcomes Flooding, Invests in Sustainability

JIANGXI, China–Since 2011, Chinese vitamin manufacturer Tianxin Pharmaceutical has invested 50 million yuan in sustainability. The company, which specializes in vitamin B1 and B6 production, overcame a historic downpour that leveled its city, Le’ping.

Catastrophic flooding temporarily closed the company’s Le'ping factory in June 2012. After several weeks, the plant gradually resumed production. Then, Tianxin Pharmaceutical reevaluated its flood control protocol to ensure safety—for the residents, the factory and the environment.

As environmental protection, Tianxin Pharmaceutical emphasizes raw material selection, production technology and equipment optimization. The company also follows strict environmental control rules, using effective and comprehensive treatment methods. Recently, Tianxin invested significantly in improving its waste water treatment, exhaust fume and solid waste facilities.

Guangtian Wang, vice president for Tianxin Pharmaceutical, said the company insists on sustainable development through investing in environmental protection and social responsibility. He added, “In compliance with this sustainable development philosophy, the company has improved its methods of manufacture, solving environmental problems.”

Tianxin, founded in 1996, produces 4,000 tons of vitamins B1 and B6 annually. B Vitamins have been tied to developing healthy bones, lowering risk of depression and normalizing juvenile diabetes.
